Frequently Asked Questions
Tablet Won’t Turn On or Charges Slowly
The tablet’s charge drains quickly, or the battery does not charge.
The Battery is Dead
The device’s battery may be dead, so plug it into a proper charger and let it charge for at least 30 minutes to be sure that the tablet is fully charged. If it still won’t turn on after being charged, the battery may be dead or faulty.
The Charging Port is Damaged/Dirty
The device may have an accumulation of dust in the charging port. If so, take a toothpick and stick something soft to the end of it, such as cotton, and use it to clean out the port. If this does not solve the problem, the tablet’s charging port may have internal damage and need a replacement.
The Incorrect Charger is Being Used/Faulty Charger
The device may not be charging because the charger is incompatible. First, make sure that the charger being used is a verified charger. Samsung warns that although a charger may fit into the charging port of one of their devices, the charger may still be incompatible with the device. This incompatibility would be the cause of slow to no charge on the device.
The display screen is unresponsive
The tablet is powered on, but it will not respond to inputs on the touch screen.
Broken Screen
It should be obvious if the screen is cracked or broken, which will lead to screen replacement.
Software related lock-up
If the screen is not broken, but it is unresponsive, this is likely a software-related issue. You should first attempt a hard reboot of the tablet by holding the power button down for 15 seconds. If this doesn’t work, seek support from samsung.com, as you may need to reinstall the operating system.
Device won’t Connect to Internet/Service
The tablet won’t connect to the internet using Wi-Fi or LTE.
Mobile Data is Not Enabled
Navigate to the tablet’s settings page and select “Data Usage”. From the Data Usage page, make sure “Mobile Data” is switched to ON.
Weak Signal Strength
Whether you’re using Wi-Fi or LTE, check your signal strength located at the top of the device. If you have less than 2 or 3 bars, move to a location with better signal.
Outdated Device Software
Update your tablet’s software. To do this, first navigate to the settings page. Select “System Update” and then “Update Profile”. Test your connection again after the update.
Software Issue
Occasionally, applications or software on the device can cause problems, including connectivity issues. If this is the case, resetting the device could potentially correct the issue by clearing the device’s current state. To reset the device, hold the power button on the right side of the tablet. Select “Power Off” from the menu that appears.
Not Connected to Wi-Fi
If there are connectivity issues using the device’s cellular data (LTE), connecting to Wi-Fi can serve as a temporary solution. To do so, open the tablet’s settings page and select “Connections”, then select “Wi-Fi”. Switch the Wi-Fi button to ON and connect to an available network.
